Scholarships are given out through a competitive application process once a year, with 50% grants and 50% loans awarded.

Scholarship Value
- Foundations aid students with tuition fees and living expenses.
- Travel costs are not included in AKF scholarships.
- Master’s scholarships are granted for the entire degree course duration.
- PhD scholarships are for the first two years only.
- Half of the scholarship amount is a loan with a 5% annual service charge.
- The guarantor co-signs the loan agreement.
- The payback period is five years, starting six months after the funded period.

- In Canada, France, Portugal, and the USA, applicants are originally from developing countries, interested in development-related studies, and without other education financing means.
