The Early Career Fellowship from OWSD and UNESCO. To promote early-career women scientists, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), in collaboration with UNESCO and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), invites submissions from properly qualified applicants for enrollment in the OWSD Early Career Fellowship. A prestigious award of up to USD 50,000, the OWSD Early Career Fellowship is given to women who have completed their doctorates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and who work for academic institutions or scientific research centers in one of the listed Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs).

OWSD Early Career Fellowship Qualifications

  • Must be residents of one of the designated Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs) for at least five years.
  • Can be nationals of any nation as long as residency criteria are met.
  • Must present documentation at application time attesting employment status at the research facility.
  • The research project’s host institution must be in one of the STLCs.
  • For two years of fellowship, proof of salary payment from the institution is required.
