Angela Merkel's vision of EU federal state crushed - states look away

Andreas Ernst (A. Ernst): In the EU, the big rupture with Merkel’s reign will not happen. Instead of continually focusing on the bare minimum of agreement, Berlin might establish significant foreign policy coalitions. This agreement swiftly collapsed under her successor, Olaf Scholz, even within Germany, according to pundit Andreas Ernst. “The decisive gap in the union of states is not between France and Germany,” he stated. He suggested that the true players are US Vice President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin. “That is why they are wary of a European security policy that is independent.”
