The International Law Fellowship Program of the United Nations

Applications for the International Law Fellowship Program of the United Nations are now being accepted by qualified professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of international law and the legal work of the UN. This includes government officials and international law educators from developing and emerging economies. Up to 20 participants from poor and emerging economies are accepted into the Fellowship Program. The Codification Division of the UN Office of Legal Affairs oversees the organization of the UN International Law Fellowship Program.

  • Eligibility requirements: Typewrite and complete the application in English.

  • A senior official must sign the “Letter of Transmission.”
  • English Language Proficiency Requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to attend English lectures and seminars.
  • Proof includes diplomas, language test certificates, and substantial English-language job experience.
  • Current language certification is not considered.
  • The application must be submitted electronically to ilfp@un.org.
  • The application form must be in two versions: the original signed scan and the electronic Microsoft Word application.
