U.S. Snowboard Cross Team Under Investigation.

According to USA Today, the US Ski & Snowboard Association launched an investigation into the US snowboard cross team after a former Olympian accused two members of sexual harassment and racism. Coach Peter Foley allegedly took “naked images of female athletes for almost a decade,” according to Callan Chythlook-Sifsof, who competed in the 2010 Olympics and posted the charges on her Instagram account.

She further claimed that in 2014, Foley made a sexual remark about another woman to her and another colleague. The Olympian also accused U.S. snowboarder Hagen Kearney of “deliberately getting under my skin” by using the n-word against her. She described an alleged event that occurred during a 2014 Olympic qualifier in Canada.

According to Chythlook-Sifsof, they were traveling back to the hotel in a van when Kearney allegedly said, “Kanye West gives black people a horrible reputation.” She claims that after urging him to stop and get out of the van, Kearney yelled the n-word about 20 times as they walked. She also claimed Kearney made rape comments about other female members on several occasions.

In response to the accusation, Kearney told USA Today, “Years ago, I made a blunder with my statements, and the necessary punishment was taken. I’ve grown as a result of my blunders, and I’m a better person as a result. ” According to USA Today, Tom Horrocks, a spokesman for the United States Ski & Snowboard Association, reacted to both charges by stating the organization is “informed of the current allegations” against Foley.

In an email to USA Today, Harrocks said, “We take this extremely seriously and these are being reviewed.” Kearney competed in the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, placing 17th in the men’s snowboard cross event. Chythlook-Sifsof stated that she felt compelled to make these charges public. “I will not watch another Olympic Games without publicly stating this,” Chythlook-Sifsof wrote on Instagram.
