On the one-year anniversary of the riot in the United States Capitol, renowned American political novelist Bob Woodward told CTV’s Your Morning Thursday that he “never envisioned something like this” happening in the United States. “I’m delighted you haven’t had anything like this happen in Canada,” he continued, “because I’ve never seen it, never thought of something like this occurring.”
Woodward was commenting on then-US President Donald Trump’s post-election behavior, including threats to change key members of his government and the unending lie that the election was “stolen,” a topic explored in his latest book, “Peril.” The book covers the conclusion of the Trump administration, the unverified election lies, and the first few months of the Biden administration that followed.
