Preview and Predictions for WWE’s ‘Day 1’: Whose Side Is Paul Heyman On?

WWE will begin 2022 with the company’s first-ever New Year’s Day pay-per-view event. Day 1 will feature Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar in a match for the Universal Championship. Another highlight on the WWE calendar is a tie-in with New Year’s Eve. The event may also serve as a precursor to the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania seasons. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley will compete for Big E’s title.


For the Raw women’s championship, Liv Morgan will face Becky Lynch. The match between Reigns and Lesnar would be a wonderful way to build up to the WrestleMania match. Lesnar will need to win the Royal Rumble to obtain another title opportunity if Heyman realigns with Reigns and helps him retain.


Big E and Rollins appear to be the two most likely candidates to win the WWE championship at Saturday’s PPV. Becky Lynch will very certainly be a featured performer at WrestleMania, if not main-eventing one of the show’s evenings. Edge vs. The Miz is a departure from Edge’s tumultuous battle with The Miz since his return to the arena in 2020. Big E has a chance to pin Owens and retain his WWE title heading into the Royal Rumble. The Usos vs. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston


The men’s Royal Rumble match pits Drew McIntyre against Madcap Moss. Match for the Raw tag team championship: The outcome of this match could be determined by Randy Orton and Riddle’s WrestleMania intentions. Sheamus and Ridge Holland are the favorites.
