Cryobioprinting is a technology created by researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The technology prints frozen, complicated structures that may be easily saved for later use using a bioink embedded with cells. The technology could have extensive applicability in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and tailored therapies, according to Y. Shrike Zhang, Ph.D., an associate bioengineer in Brigham’s Department of Medicine. “Given how quickly the area of tissue engineering is developing, these manufactured tissue constructs could have a wide range of applications in muscular tissue engineering and beyond,” says Jian Zhang, the lead researcher.
