Covid-19 Virus Could Be Killed By Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment.

According to new research, a novel foot ulcer formulation developed by experts at the University of South Australia could be utilized to eradicate the COVID-19 virus. The researchers discovered that adding peracetic acid to cold plasma ionized gas made it “very effective” at killing common wound pathogenic bacteria and inactivating SARS-Cov-2. This paper describes a method for activating acetyl donor molecules “on-demand” using cold plasma.

The technique, which is held by AGA Nanotech in the United Kingdom, might be used to cleanse surfaces in hospitals and through air conditioning systems, according to the author. On COVID-19 variations like delta, the solution has yet to be tested. Diabetics face a significant risk of developing foot ulcers. The combined treatment was required for Staphylococcus aureus, often known as “golden staph.” “To address the global escalation in antimicrobial resistance, we urgently need an antibiotic-free solution, and we feel we have taken an essential first step with this new strategy,” he said, adding that the formulation may be used as a cream, gel, aerosol, or wound dressing.

The latter method is now being tested at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, according to the University of South Australia. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 122 million Americans have diabetes or prediabetes. Diabetes is the sixth biggest cause of death in the United States, and about half of all diabetics experience nerve damage, with the feet and legs being the most commonly affected. According to the International Diabetes Federation, one out of every ten people aged 20 to 79 has diabetes, and diabetes is responsible for one death every five seconds in 2021.
