THE IMPROVED THREE-BALL FROM KNICKS COMES WITH HIGHER EXPECTATIONS.

According to Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks will attempt between 37 and forty 3-factor tries in 2021–22. Last season, the Knicks made 1,147 three-pointers, four hundred more than any other team in the NBA. Last year’s Julius Randle-led attack was good, but it wasn’t quite good enough. The Knicks had to make a change after their five-game collection defeat to the Atlanta Hawks. They are now first in the league with 49.0 threes per game and first in percentage of their subject dreams being threes at 50.2 percent. Julius Randle is averaging 28.9 points per game to open the season, but he hasn’t shot the ball well (29.2%), and he continues to unleash the ball from beyond the arc.

Randle’s position at the top of the offensive food chain allows other players to flourish. Rose’s ability to play on all three levels (the 3, the mid-range, and the paint) allows him to effectively paint off Randle. In New York, Fournier is able to lean back and have more of his offense manufactured for him, while also serving as a dangerous safety valve for his offense. The Knicks are on the verge of a run of success, thanks to Thibodeau’s protective device and a stepped-forward 3-factor shot. It may take a little longer to gel, but the Knicks are walking and launching threes at a rate that hasn’t been seen since 2012–13. Evan Fournier, Kemba Walker, Julius Randle, Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, R.J. Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley are among the Knicks’ shooters for the 2021–22 season.
